Notes - There is no known proof as to who the parents of John Wendal (or John V.) FADER were. Several sources have placed him the family of Johann Adam and Lucy (Bryzelius) FADER; however, I tend to disagree, for the following reasons:
Unless he was an illegitimate son of a FADER daughter, there appear to be five possible candidates for his father--Johann Adam, Christian Joseph, Karl Friedrich, Jacob, and Johann Matthaus FADER.
a. Jacob is known to have had only daughters and not to have strayed from Lunenburg County [Source: Jean Tavanee]
b. Little is known of Johann Matthaus, who seems to all but disappear, suggesting he either died young or left the area.
c. We know that Christian Joseph took his family to Queens County, where they stayed.
d. We also know that Johann Adam and all of his known children, save one--Wendel Joseph, who ended up in Annapolis County--never strayed from Lunenburg County. Also, if John V. is the son of Johann Adam, he is too tight a fit between Christian (b. 11 Oct 1806), Magdalena Sophia, (chr. 11 Jun 1807) and Sophia (b. 1 Jan 1809) unless he is Magdalena Sophia's twin, which seems unlikely to me. Finally, John Wendal is clearly not among the heirs of Johann Adam listed in the Chester Township Book.
e. Karl Friedrich did have a son--Charles Frederick Henry-- who is known to have moved to the St. Margaret's Bay area. Further, at least one of his children is known to have been born in East Chester, which is reportedly where John V. was born. Finally, John V. fits neatly into the birth order of Karl Friedrich's known children.
For these reasons, pending availability of further evidence, he is placed here in the family of Karl Friedrich FADER. [Bob H]
