  James SPIDLE b. 1861, who appears to be the son of this LEVI, gives his parents as Levi and Sophia at marriage in 1883. I think it is more likely that wife Caroline is Sophia Carline than that Mary Ann is also named Sophia, or that this is brand new second wife. On theother hand, daughter Alma, b. 1866, gives her parents as Levi and Mary at marriage in 1885. Now Mary could well be Alma's stepmother in reality, but since no civil marriage has been found for Levi and Mary, that would seem to say that they married before the mid-1860's. So, for want of better evidence, Iit would appear for the moment that children John through James belong to Caroline, children Alma through Allen belong to Mary, and Howard is anyone's guess.
