Notes - In the 1871 and 1891 Censuses of Lunenburg County, as well as in the marriage record for Lavinia M. Slauenwhite, we see that her parents are James and Maria Magdalena SLAUENWHITE. Further, we can identify the gravestones in Centre Sunny Valley Cemetery, as belonging to this James and Maria Magdalena SLAUENWHITE. Along with the 1901 Census, all the evidence places James' and Maria Magdalena's birth in 1813. So James Slauenwhite, father of Lavinia, must have been 25 years of age at the time of the 1838 Census.
In the 1838 Census of Lunenburg, there is only one James SLAUENWHITE, and he is easily identified as James Jacob Frederick, husband of Anna Catherine YOUNG. Further, a search of all SLAUENWHITEs known to be living in Lunenburg in 1838 reveals only one James (or Jacob) who was born any time around 1813 and who cannot otherwise be eliminated, and that again James Jacob Frederick. Therefore, I think that these two James SLAUENWHITEs are probably the same person. [Bob H]
