  • Notes
    • The St. Paul's Lutheran, Bridgewater, Parish Register contains the following entry: William Henry SLAUENWHITE died of weakness 24 Oct 1860 aged 57 yrs, 10 mos, 24 days, buried Conquerall Bank. No other information is given, and there is no baptismal, marriage, or other record for such a person. Further, there is no known SLAUENWHITE who dies on that date and all known William and Henry SLAUNWHITE's can be ruled out.

Assuming his surname and dates in the register are accurate, what we know is that he is Lutheran, that he apparently lives in the same area as five of the sons of Johannes SLAUENWHITE, and that he is probably buried in Acadia Cemetery, Conquerall Bank. But he cannot be a son of Johannes since they are approximately the same age. BeCAUSe of his age and location, apparently he can only be a son of John Fred 1745, John Jacob Rudolph 1784, or John Fred 1782. John Fred 1782 can quickly be ruled out since he does not marry until 1810 and all his children are born Tancook. It would appear that John Jacob can also be ruled out since the birth of his daughter Anna Elizabeth would conflict; even if she was born 1803, it would still be an extremely difficult fit unless they were twins. So that leaves John Fred 1745 whose wife would have to have been at least age 46 in 1802.

So, assuming he is a SLAUENWHITE who is born 1802, there are no instinctively appealing possibilities. But since, for my purposes, he must be carried somewhere, he is shown here with John Fred 1742, only beCAUSe other possibilities for his father seem even less likely. If, in fact, this is the right family, it is possible that he was the illegitimate son of daughter Catherine Elisabeth, about whom nothing is know after her birth. [Bob H]
