• Notes

  In 1847, Julia SLAWINWHITE, illegitimate d/o William SLAWINWHITE and Catherine KENNEDY is baptised at OLMC. The identity of this William cannot be proven; however, there is strong circumstantial evidence that he is William, s/o John Jacob and Maria (Allen) SLAUNWHITE. First, he is the only know William SLAUNWHITE who is the right age and in the right place at the right time. Second, he does not marry Mary Ann JOLLIMORE until 1850; she is believed to be his first wife, and if so, he is a bachelor in 1847. Third, one of the sponsors is a Julia SLAUNWHITE. There is a Julia SLAUNWHITE who is the right age and in the right place at the right time, and she is the first cousin of William, son of John Jacob and Maria. So I think it is most likely that this William is the scoundrel. [Bob H]
