i. In 1901, a Joseph and Rachel SAWLER who appear to be the couple married in 1848 appear in the census of Cambridge, Kings, NS
The problem is--who is the husband of Catherine ZWICKER. The key to it's solution appears to lie in three clues:
a. When Joseph Azariah SAWLER is baptised, it seems clear that the witnesses are Johan Friedrich and Sarah Catherine SAWLER. So, it seems a safe bet that they are his grandparents, which makes his father their son.
b. Joseph and Catherine (Zwicker) have only two known children, and both are born before Sep 1855, when Josiah SAWLER dies
c. Josiah is often mistaken for Joseph during this time.
Thus it seems most likely, at least to me, that it is Josiah SAWLER, b. 1828, who is the husband of Catherine ZWICKER. [Bob H]
