Notes - We know that the woman who m. John David WHYNOT was named Sarah Elizabeth SLAUENWHITE. Also, we know that she died at SMB on 25 Jan 1873 and is bur. St. Luke's Anglican, Hubbards Cove, where her marker ()which also names her Sarah Elizabeth) gives her age at death as 75 Years, 6 mos, placing her birth in Jul 1797. If she is an SMB SLAUENWHITE, she can only be the d/o John Fred b. 1769, and we know that every other one of his children settled either at SMB or Terence Bay.
Now the things we know about the Sarah SLAUENWHITE who m. John Fred SAWLER are first, that her father is named John Fred, and that Canon Harris says she was born 1795, d/o John Fred 1769. Let's assume that Canon Harris is (approximately) correct about the year of her birth. Then first, there is an available Sarah Catherine SLAUENWHITE, b. 12 Mar 1796 who is d/o of a John Fred SLAUENWHITE. Since both cannot be the daughters of John Fred 1745, there are three possibilities:
a. Both are the daughters of John Fred 1769.
b. Sarah Catherine is d/o John Fred 1745 and Sarah Elizabeth is d/o John Fred 1769
c. Sarah Catherine is d/o John Fred 1769 and Sarah Elizabeth is d/o John Fred 1745.
I simply don't believe choice a. or any one of several reasons. The one I do believe is choice b., for two reasons.
First, it makes far more sense for a SMB SLAUENWHITE to marry a SMB WHYNOT and a Lunenburg SLAUENWHITE to marry a Lunenburg SAWLER than vice versa, especially since nobody else in the immediate family of the Sarah Elizabeth SLAUENWHITE of SMB ever moved back to Lunenburg. And second, while Sarah Catherine 1795 first neatly into the birth order of John Fred 1745, there is no room in that birth order for Sarah Elizabeth b. Jul 1797.
So I believe first, that the w/o John David WHYNOT is Sarah Elizabeth 1797, d/o John Fred 1769, and that the wife of John Fred SAWLER was Sarah Catherine 1796, d/o John Fred 1745. [Bob H]
