Henry Sawler in 1829 seems resolved by the following deed, in which she is named Mary Elizabeth: Deed #3: Halifax County, vol #86,. pages 412-414, Mary Elizabeth Sauler to Charles Harnish, reg. 5 April 1844, written 22 March 1844 between Mary Elizabeth Sauler, Hubberts Cove, SMB, widow and heir of the late Henry Sauler, deceased, for in consideration of 41 pounds from Charles Harnish ...all her right and title to 30 acres on WSMB on the west side of a cove known as Hubbard's Cove conveyed to the said Henry Sauler by Edward Sauler on 30 October 1841, the said Edward Sauler being the Only remaining grandson of Edward Harnish and Charlotte Harnish of SMB, deceased...being the same lot of land conveyed by one Gottlip Harnish to the said Edward Harnish by deed 18 April 1793. signed by mark: Mary Sauler [Transcribed by Brenda Maruca]

  We first see the name ALCORN in a burial record for John HARNISH--John HARNISH, age 50, s/o Mrs. ALCORN, is bur. Hubbard's Cove on 08 Aug 1861. Given that he is age 50, this places son John's birth about 1811 and there is a John HARNISH, b. 1811, who lives in the Mill Cove/Hubbards area and for whom we do not otherwise have a death. He is John Edward, b. 04 Apr 1811, s/o Johann Georg HARNISH and Polly SLAUENWHITE. But now consider the following. We next see Mrs. ALCORN as Mary Elizabeth ALCORN, a sponsor at the baptism of Mary Ellen, d/o George Casper and Peggy (Andrews) HARNISH. But we know that Polly's real name is Maria Elisabetha SLAUENWHITE, and she is Mary Ellen's grandmother!! Since we know that Polly outlived her second husband, Heinrich Sawler, I believe that Mrs. ALCORN is Polly. [Bob H]
