  The 1900 Census of MA has a Caleb [he is Cabel in 1900 and Caleb in 1910] HARNISH, b. Mar 1853 in NS, who is married to an Emily HARNISH also b. NS. They are married in 1888, enter the US in 1890, and have two children. Since the children are b. 1879 and 1884 (in Canada), they must be from a previous marriage. Emily is shown as having two children, both living, so the children appear to be hers. But their surname is shown as HARNISH. So either they were adopted, or she was previously married to a different HARNISH. Since there are no Richard HARNISH's in the 1881 Census of Canada, it is resumed that they were adopted.
