Notes - Rebecca Matilda SLAUNWHITE is something of an enigma. Certainly she was born and was a real person, but little is known of her after her birth. However, at least three of Jacob LEVY's children name a Matilda SLAUNWHITE as their mother on marriage and/or death certificates. No marriage records have been found for Jacob Levy's first two wives, but it is clear that he had three, the first of whom was named Matilda SLAUENWHITE. The first question is--who were her parents? And the answer seems relatively straightforward as there was only one Matilda SLAUENWHITE who was the right age and in the right place.
