  It can be shown that Andrew V. L. MacNUTT had (at least) 16 children. Five--Annie, Pauline, Laverne, Irma, and an anonymous infant--can easily be attributed to wife Elsie BERRYMAN; and three more--Greta and Jean (whose mother is certain) and Kathleen (whose mother is not quite so certain, as discussed below) can be attributed to Susan CUNNINGHAM. This leaves eight children--Andrew, Bruce, Eileen, Hector, Jennie, Ronald, Shirley, and Stanley--whose mother is not obvious, and this group can be further subdivided into those born between 1919 and 1924 (Eileen and Ronald) and those born before 1911 (the remaining six). Eileen and Ronald were born after the death of wife Susan and well before the marriage to wife Elsie. The remaining children appear in the 1911 Census, in which their father (who is head of household) reports that he is single. At marriage, one of these children--Shirley--reports that their mother's name was Nancy. However, later, on her Application for Delayed Registration of Birth gives her mother as Susan CUNNINGHAM, and other siblings in this group lists Susan as their mother at marriage as well. There does not seem to be a record of a marriage to a Nancy for an Andrew or Vernon/Verney MacNUTT, nor does there seem to be a death or burial record for a Nancy MacNUTT. And perhaps more importantly, although Andrew MacNUTT is single in the 1911 Census, Susan CUNNINGHAM is listed in the 1911 Census as his "housekeeper". Given all that, I suspect that there is no "Nancy", that every child born before Susan's death 1918 is hers, and that all succeeding children belong to Elsie.
