At the time, he was a resident of 165 Somerville Ave., Somerville, Middlesex, MA, and gave his date of birth as Feb 20, 1871. [SOURCE: NE Naturalization Records Index]. Note: This DOB was probably in error. The 1900 and 1920 Censuses give his immigration dates as 1882 and 1885, respectively. However, an article from the Carleton County, NB Sentinel newspaper of 15 April 1882 states : “The following from Upper Woodstock left last week for the United States to seek more remunerative fields of labor, Patrick DONOVAN and brother, . . .”.
