  What is certain is that a John BACHMAN m. a Mary HAWBOLDT on 15 Apr 1835; what is uncertain is the identity of his bride. There were two Mary HAWBOLDT's born in Chester in 1813, one the d/o Henry and Elizabeth and the other the d/o Henry and Maria Dorothea, and there is no smoking gun which points to either one. However, there is a link between the family of John BACHMAN and the latter Mary. Elizabeth HAWBOLDT, sister of Mary d/o Maria Dorothea, marries John D. CHURCH in 1839, and when she dies, John marries Elizabeth BACHMAN, sister of the John BACHMAN above. So I tend to think it is the latter Mary HAWBOLDT who m. John BACHMAN. [Bob H]
