Notes - George Becker was a baker in a company of Hessian mercenaries engaged in the American Revolutionary War on the side of the British Forces. He did not return to Hesse after the war and instead remained and settled in Nova Scotia. [Source: Freda Freeman]
Some place his birth at about 1764. However if so, he would probably have been too young to be a Hessian mercenary in the American Revolution. If one accepts that Maria Magdalena Wolf--his wife-- was actually Jacobina Elisabetha Wolf, b. 1751, then it is more likely that he was born in the 1750's. [Bob H]
