  • Notes
    • The book “Descendants of Ulrich HUBLEY” also includes a Mariah HUBLEY in this family, based on this IGI record: “Married 28 Jan 1819 at Trinity Anglican, Digby, Digby, NS--Samuel Winchester and Mariah HOPLEY”. Since this IGI entry appears to be based on records extracted by an LDS team from the Parish Register , Trinity Anglican, Digby, it is no doubt an accurate record.

While HOPLEY could be a mis-spelling of HUBLEY, it could also be a mis-spelling (or correct spelling) of some other surname. But perhaps more importantly, it does not seem plausible that a true HUBLEY would be married in Digby when most brides of that era were married either in their home parish (there were no HUBLEY families in Digby at that time) or a relative's home. So I do not believe that she was a HUBLEY. [Bob H]
