Notes - Her marriage record gives her father only as “John M.” --which could have been either Johann Martin or Johann Heinrich Matthaus--and there is no other record which is known to name a parent. The strongest argument I can think of for making her the daughter of John Martin is that, in her marriage record, her father is listed as John M. It's true that her name is Margaret, which is the same as that of JHM SLAUNWHITE's wife, but that is not as compelling as the entry for her father's name. By the time she was married, JHM would have gone by the name of John Henry or simply Harry and certainly not John M. If her place in the birth order is examined, her inclusion produces one child too many in the birth orders of both John M and JHM; however, she fills a gap in John Martin's birth order whereas she does not in JHM's. So, she is assigned to John Martin pending discovery of further evidence.
Also pending discovery of further evidence, her DOB is shown as Abt. 1813 based first on the observation that she would appear to fit into the birth order in 1813 and the supposition that she was somewhere around age 17 when she married John Clancy; and second, on the gap in the birth order.
