  Lunenburg Progress-Enterprise, Wednesday Morning January 25, 1911 - p5 [Transcribed by Fran Levy] On Tuesday Morning at one O'clock, while the thermometer was fifteen below zero, one of the most terrible tragedies ever known in the county was enacted at Little Tancook, when the home of Gabriel Levy was burned to the ground and three of his children aged 4, 6 and eight years perished in the flames. The fire is supposed to have caught from a wooden fireboard, and had made such headway before being discovered by the eldest daughter that it was only by raising a ladder from outside to the upper window that the wife and other children were rescued, one of whom was so terribly burned that she died the next day. It is supposed that the oldest daughter tried to rescue the younger children sleeping near her and perished while endeavouring to rescue them. It was not thought that the condition of the girl who was rescued with her mother was serious and no physician was called, but she succumbed to her injuries early next day. The funeral of the four children took place on Wednesday, the interment for all four being made at the same time.
