  	The 1900 Census of NH states that both William and Minnie (HUBLEY) PATTERSON were first married 8 years prior, presumably to each other since their first known child is born May 189. However, their only known marriage record states that they were married on 14 Apr 1937 and, as their ages are given, there is no mistaking the date. The 1937 marriage record also indicates that it is Minnie's first marriage, it is William's second, and that he is a widower. So, it would appear that if William and Minnie were, in fact, married in 1892, the marriage was illegal as he was a bigamist at worst and a "geographic widower" at best. Given the fact that they were [apparently] legally married in 1937, my guess is that Minnie was at first unaware that William was already married and, upon later discovering that fact, insisted that they be legally married when it was possible to do so.
