- The only two documents in which he appears are first, Willis Peter HUBLEY's obit (as son Conn) obit; and second, Willis' will. Older family members spoke of a brother named Cowen or Conn, and younger family members remember stories about him, so there is no doubt that he was a real person. However, he never appears , at least under that name, in the 1891, 1901, 1911, or 1921 Census, and every family member who does appear is known not to be him. So it would appear that he was probably born with, and used, a name other than Cowan/Conn HUBLEY and was not the biological son of both Willis and Maude HUBLEY. One relative states that he was the oldest son of Willis and Maude, which seems to suggest that he may have been the son of Willis HUBLEY before his marriage to Maude and used either the surname of his biological mother or of foster parents, at least up until 1921.
