  Avard [or Albert] Slauenwhite is known to have died as a small child in a diphtheria epidemic that struck Big Tancook Island in Winter. Although the exact date of his death is unknown, a number of deaths from diphtheria were recorded on Big Tancook Island in 1892-1894. There is also a possibility that Albert and Avard were brothers, but the weight of evidence indicates that they were one and the same person. [Bob H]
