- Ralph Keeler came to America from England, before February 1639. His name appeared in Hartford, CT. town records as owning several parcels. His home lot was located on what later became known as West Park, just north of the State Capitol.
He became one of the original proprietors of Norwalk, CT., signing the agreement of 19 June 1650, with Riger Ludlow, of Fairfield, the one who purchased the land from the Indians in 1640. He was a carpenter. On 18 December 1653, the townsmen voted for Ralph Keeler and Walter Hoyt, to build a house form Thomas Hanford, Norwalk's first minister.
Ralph moved to Jamaica, Long Island, for a while. His name appears in Jamaica Town records on 2 March 1663. On 30 August 1663, Ralph Keeler and Mr. Coe were called upon to build the Town Meeting house.
He was back in Norwalk, CT. on 1 September 1665, when he purchased a home from Thomas Ward.
Ralph Keeler wrote his will on 20 August 1672. He said he was, “aged fifty-nine or thereabouts.” He referred to his loving wife, Sarah, his sons in the following order: John, Ralph, Samuel and Jonah, the youngest; and to his daughters Rebecca and Elizabeth. His will was proved on 5 November 1672 in Fairfield Probate.
