  • Notes
    • What is known of him comes from his marriage bond and from the following notice that appeared in the 27 Nov 1862 edition of the Halifax Morning Chronicle, (p.3, col. 1--cited by Brenda Maruca): "Deaths: Lost overboard, on the 29th Oct., from schr. Foam, Captain Mc Coy, Archibald D.Moser, a native of the Bay of Islands, NS, 25 years of age, leaving a wife and one child". So the question is--who are his parents?

In looking at the 1838 Census of Bay of Islands, the most likely family seems to be that of Philip L. and Mary Ann (HOYE) MOSER, who have two sons, both under age 6, and no daughters. Further, the co-signer of Archibald's marriage bond is a CURRY, which is the maiden name of his paternal grandmother. So although this evidence is flimsy at best, since he must be placed somewhere, he is placed for now with Philip L. and Mary Ann.
