- His WWI Draft Registration Card states that Dilvert DOREY has a wife and one child, and we know that for men his age, the date of registration was 5 Jun 1917. Also, the McCormick/Darres collection tells us that Dalvert had a wife named Nellie PAGE and a daughter named Phyllis who goes on to marry Clayton HARRIS and Thomas RICE. Finally, there is a Nellie PAGE , age 10, in the 1900 Census of NH.
However, in the 1920 and 1930 Censuses we see Dilvert DOREY and wife Delma, who were both first married in 1915. Second we see daughters Alice, b. 1919, and Gertrude b. 1923. So Alice cannot be the child referred to in the WWI Draft Registration Card. However in neither 1920 or 1930 is there any sign of either Nellie nor Phyllis.
While it is possible that Dilvert has two wives, the fact that that both eh and Delma were first married in 1915, together with the fact that there is no sign of Phyllis in 1920, suggest to me that there was only one wife--Delma (Nelllie) PAGE, and that Phyllis and Alice are the same person. But a few more sources to shed light on these questions are sorely needed.
