• Notes

  The wife of William Swinamer--named Bessie B. SAWLER, age 19, d/o James and Christina SAWLER in her marriage record--presents two problems. First, although her DOB is given as 1880 in the 1901 Census, there is no record of her in the 1881 Census; second, there is no couple in the area named James and Christina SAWLER. However, there is a couple named James and Martina SAWLER. Further, although they marry in 1880, I know of no children for them until 1884, after which they have seven more. So I believe that this Bessie or Bertha is the d/o James and Martina, and that she is b. 1881, not 1880. [Bob H]
