Notes - We have two conflicting records regarding Elizabeth (HUBLEY) JOUDREY's death:
a. "Elizabeth Jodry, Consort of Peter Jodry, Departed this life 14th November, 1817"; and
b. “JOUDRY”,”Thomas”,”B”,”1819-08-19”,”1819-11-13”,”DRL”,”Peter & Eliz”
I believe there is only one Peter JOUDREY who could be the husband/father in these tow records. After Elizabeth dies, Peter remarries at DRL in 1824 as his new wife--Christina (WEAGLE) MEISNER--is apparently Presbyterian/Dutch Reformed; but then their children are recorded at North West Baptist. So it does not seem unusual that Thomas is baptised at DRL while Elizabeth's death is recorded at North West Baptist.
Now we know that Joseph Nicholas JOUDREY is b. 03 Apr 1817, and so it would appear that Thomas cannot be born before about Nov 1817 death date; so his 1819 DOB seems to follow.
Finally, his cannot be Elizabeth and Peter's son, Peter unless a 14 year old (he was born 1804 and then add nine months) Peter JOUDREY fathers an illegitimate son and the baptismal record doesn't reflect it. An alternative explanation might be that the elder has an affair with somebody named Elizabeth after his wife Elizabeth's death. But in either case, the baptismal record would normally show the mother's surname when it doesn't use the term “illegitimate”, and the fact that it doesn't leads me to believe that something else must be wrong.
Looking at the burials section of the early NW Baptist register, the first thing that pops out is that the entries appear to be chronological, which would be expected. However, the death/burial entry for Elizabeth JODRY, which states that she died 14 Nov 1817, is placed directly between a 15 Jan 1818 entry and a 9 Nov 1820 entry.
So I think that the 7 in her 1817 death date is either an error or a badly formed 9, and that she died 14 Nov 1819. [Bob H]
