• Notes

  Two persons adjacent to Arthur in the December OLMC baptismal register entries also appear to have been later re-baptized. So either there was an irregularity in these December baptisms, or there are duplicate entries in the register. BeCAUSe this is a period when a number of significant mistakes appear in the register, the latter is probably the case. However, he may also have received an “emergency” and a “formal” baptism if he was sickly at birth. The first entry states he was baptised 13 Dec 1873 at age 5 weeks. The second, that he was baptised 28 Mar 1874 at age 5 months. Together, these would seem to indicate that he was born about Nov 1873. However, all that having been said, the Civil Birth register places his birth on 10 Jan 1873, and the chronological order of the register seems to support this date. Given the suspected error in the OLMC register, and the fact that his parents were married nine months before Jan1873, this is most likely the correct date. [Bob H]
