501 | At marriage, she gives her parents as Simeon and Catherine, and other sources list her as their daughter. But if she is 26 years of age in 1918, Catherine JOUDREY is far too old to have been her mother and it is far more likely that she was a granddaughter. From various sources, including family legend, it appears that she was actually the daughter of Sarah JOUDREY. [Bob H] | JOUDREY, Elizabeth Ada (I82783)
502 | At marriage, she gives her parents as Thomas and Ann KANE, but her death certificate lists her paretns as Matthew and Margaret KANE. There was a Thomas and KANE, both born abt 1831, who have a daughter named Margaret. So it may be that Thomas and Ann were Mary Ann's grandparents. | KANE, Mary Ann (I188656)
503 | At marriage, she gives her paretns as Solomon and Waity (WEAGLE) ZWICKER; but that would make Waity age 49 when Effie is born. While this is not impossible, it seems far more likely that Effie was an illegitimate granddaughter. | ZWICKER, Effie Love (I44653)
504 | At marriage, she lists her parents as Christopher CORKUM and Catherine CULP. However, Catherine would have been age 47 when she was born, and this Mary Ann is not included in the family group for Christopher and Catherine found in North West Baptist records, leading to the suspicion that she may have been a granddaughter. On the other hand, Mary Ann CORKUM 1831, a daughter in the family, appears to died in 1837 and it would be typical for the name to have been reused. | CORKUM, Mary Ann (I263484)
505 | At marriage, she names herself Violet Doreen SHANNON, d/o John SHANNON and Nora THOMPSON. However, her obit gives her maiden name as Violet Doreen HEIGHTON, d/o Herman and Maude (SHANNON) HEIGHTON. This would seem to indicate that she was born the illegitimate daughter of John SHANNON and was raised by a relative, possible his sister, named Maude (SHANNON) HEIGHTON; but the reverse could also be the case. | SHANNON, Violet Doreen (I104136)
506 | At marriage, Zacharias gives his parents as John and Lydia. However, when he dies, his son gives his parents as Simon and Cate! About the only thing that links him to this family is the fact that one of the witnesses to the marriage is a Ruth CORKUM who may be his sister. He is placed as the s/o John and Sophia based on Ruth the witness, and for want of a better place to assign him at the moment. Hopefully, some CORKUM expert will be able to say something more definitive. [Bob H] | CORKUM, Zacharias (I2560)

520 | Avard [or Albert] Slauenwhite is known to have died as a small child in a diphtheria epidemic that struck Big Tancook Island in Winter. Although the exact date of his death is unknown, a number of deaths from diphtheria were recorded on Big Tancook Island in 1892-1894. There is also a possibility that Albert and Avard were brothers, but the weight of evidence indicates that they were one and the same person. [Bob H] | SLAUENWHITE, Avard (I3430)

527 | Based on his ages in the 1871 through 1901 Censuses plus his death record, he seems to have been born born somewhere between 1808-1821! Examining the birth order of his family indicates that the most likely year is somewhere around 1815. Since two records agree that he was born in Dec, this may be the case. 530 | BeCAUSe her mother is named Judith, some have placed Catherine Elizabeth VEINOT 1790 as d/o Peter James and Anna Judith (DAUPHINEE) VEINOT. However, it can be shown that the wife of John VEINOT appears as both Catherine Margaret and Judith Margaret in multiple places. And from John VEINOT's LWT, it is clear that both Catherine Elizabeth 1788 and Catherine Elizabeth 1790 are their daughters. So the question then becomes--which Catherine Elizabeth married which husband? In his LWT, John lists both his sons and his daughters in order of birth. Moreover, the two successive Catherine Elizabeth's are listed as "Catherine Elizabeth" and simply "Catherine", and it seems highly unlikely that both would have been addressed, at least within the family, by the same name. Now at marriage, the wife of Henry SHUBLEY is listed as "Elizabeth", while the wife of John Peter LOWE is listed as "Catherine". Also, as Brenda Maruca points out, John VEINOT's LWT leaves 5 pounds to each daughter but only Catherine, Mary Elizabeth, and Ann Margaret are to receive a cow, calf, spinning wheel, and feather bed, which would indicate that Catherine Elizabeth is already married. Therefore, in this genealogy, Catherine Elizabeth 1788 is assigned to Henry SHUBLEY and Catherine Elizabeth 1790 to John Peter LOWE. | Family: Jean VEINOT / Catherine Margaret JOLLIMORE (F14376)

549 | Both Anda Regina and Dolley SLAUENWHITE were from the Blue Rocks area, and had father's named Daniel. From the ZLL record, it seems clear that Anda's mother was named Abigail. There are three different records citing Dolley's mother, one a Church register entry, the second a civil marriage register entry, and the third an actual marriage record (i.e., a marriage slip). In the first, her mother seems to be given as “Maena”, in the second as “L. Baker”, and in the third as “Hermion Baker”, but all these given names are difficult read even though the surname “Baker” is unmistakable. It is extremely rare for a mother's maiden name to appear on a marriage slip. In this case, it reads “Daniel Slaunwhite x Hermion Baker”, and possible interpretations are: (1) “ux”; (2) an out-of-wedlock relationship; or, (3) an unusual way to record married parents.
