| Albert Ronald DICKER first marries Dorothy Robinson, who dies in 1950. He then marries Madalan YOUNG, who survives him in 1998, and his obit lists two children--Gwen COAKLEY and Janet DeBAIE. Herbert DeBAIE marries Ruth BURGESS in 1995 after her first husband, Bruce HUBLEY, dies in 1993, and neither Gwen or Janet belong to Bruce. Since Madeline is 63 in 1995, she cannot be the mother of Herbie's four children--Gwen, Janet, Valerie, and Terry, so they have to be from a previous marriage. Madalan (YOUNG) DICKER dies at Musquodoboit Harbour on 5 Feb 2009 and her obit appears in the HC-H on 7 Feb 2009. I haven't been able to dig up a copy, but I did find an abstract of same and it lists only two children, Gwen COAKLEY and Janet. So I don't think the fact that Valerie and Terry don't appear in Albert's obit was an inadvertent error; rather, it seems more likely that they simply don't belong to Madalan or Albert. My best guess is that Gwen and Janet belong to Madalan YOUNG and Herbert DeBAIE, but Valerie and Terry DeBAIE belong to yet another wife [or significant other] of Herbert. Assuming that's right, there is no way of knowing for certain who was Herbie's spouse #1 and who was spouse #2 until some new info is found. | DEBAIE, Herbert Clarence (I100447)
| Alex and Ursula Barbara KEDDY had two sons named William. The first was born on Feb 25, 1770, and the second on Jun 12, 1775, and it is not certain which William married Sophia. | KEDDY, William Alexander (I1432)
| Alexander is a widower in 1880. | (--?--) (I181474)
| Alexander MOSER 's birth record states that he is illegitimate, so the identity of his father in question. | MOSHER, Alexander Edmund (I162894)
| Alfred Boutilier's obit states that James is a daughter. | BOUTILIER, James (I187599)
| Alfred Ernst is a widower in 1881. | (--?--), Rebecca (I191772)
| Alice Violet died giving birth to a son who could not be delivered [Dawn Hubley]. | SLAUENWHITE, Alice Violet (I19665)
| All obits for the children of Rufus and Hattie MOSHER consistently list 12 siblings, including one named Ralph. In the 1911 Census, there does not appear to be a Ralph, however there is a Burton who is never mentioned. So the odds seem high that Ralph and Burton are the same person. [Bob H] | MOSHER, Burton (I77749)
| All of her father's living children appear to be mentioned in his 1842 will, and she is not amongst them. | EISENHAUER, Sophia (I178913)
| All of the children listed in Buzz GOODWIN's obit are listed as his, but only Andrea is a biological daughter in wife Jennifer's obit; the other are step-children. The obit for Jennifer's mother has her as "Jennifer (Buzz) HAMLIN". So my guess is that Andrea is actually the daughter of somebody named HAMLIN. | HAMLIN, Andrea (I309802)
| All of the [at least four] documents in which his DOB appears disagree. | VEINOT, Hibbard Arthur (I41942)
| All of Vivian's daughters have been listed as being children of James CROFT. However, it seems likely that some are the children of either U. KEANS or Murray BERRY. [Bob H] | MANSFIELD, Vivian Maxine (I54559)
| All that is known of Eveline Amanda is her burial record, which states that she was age 3 years. Since her parents were married in Dec 1860 and she was buried on the last day of Sept, it must be presumed that she was born in late 1861. That would seem to make her a twin and fix her DOB. [Bob H] | HARNISH, Eveline Amanda [Twin] (I47724)
| All three known sources agree that Lawrence HUBLEY is the son of Mary (Williams) HUBLEY, but after that, things are less clear. The obit for Moyle Kenneth HUBLEY (Sr.) terms him a step-son, but the obit for Myle Kenneth HUBLEY (Jr.) names his as a brother; however, this latter obit also names Leaman WILLIAMS as a brother. [Bob H] | HUBLEY, Lawrence (I69005)
| Allyson may be placed in the wrong family as her grandmother's obit is ambiguous regarding her parents. | MCGETTIGAN, Allyson (I221236)
| Alonzo HUBLEY's 1914 obit names a grandmother--Annie USHER, and the question is--exactly what is their relationship. First off, Annie and Patrick J. USHER had been married for 4 yrs when the 1910 census was taken, and it tells us that Annie was born Canada. Her age varies from Census to Census usually placing her birth between 1861 and 1865 and, in 1910, the census tells us that she has never had children. Now Margaret Jane COSTLY, wife of Thomas Edmund HUBLEY is b. 1866 at Pope's Harbour, and we know from her marriage record that her parents are Peter and Bridget A. (--?--) COSTLY. So if her mother was no more that 16 when Margaret was born, that puts her birth in 1850 or before. Similarly, we know that Alexander HUBLEY m.3) Bridget Ann (HURD) COSTLY, who appears to be the mother of James COSTLY, b. 1867, and that all three are living at Pope's Harbour in the 1881 Census. Also, we know that the age Bridget Ann (HURD) COSTLY gives at her marriage to Alexander, as well as her age in the 1881 Census, puts her birth around 1846, which gibes with the quick calculation of how old the mother of Margaret and James has to be. So it would appear that Bridget (HURD), widow of Peter COSTLY, is the mother of James and Margaret Jane; or, stated differently, an assertion that this is all just coincidence violates Occam's Razor at the very least and borders on incredulity. Next, we see in the 1910 Census that Annie, wife of Patrick USHER--whose DOB's the censuses place between 1861-1865--says that she has had no children, both of which facts would seem to eliminate her if true. But here's the problem. Alonzo HUBLEY's 1914 obit names Annie USHER as his grandmother and states that he dies at her home. Since she is alive in 1914, she can only be one of two people: a. His paternal grandmother, the mother of Thomas Edmund HUBLEY. But since the first wives of his grandfather, Alexander, are deceased, they could hardly own a house as Annie USHER does in Alonzo's 1914 death notice for Alonzo. So if Annie USHER is his paternal grandmother, she must be Alexander's third wife, Bridget Ann (HURD) COSTLY. b. His maternal grandmother, the mother of Mary Jane COSTLY. But this is Bridget Ann (HURD) COSTLY, who later becomes the third wife of Alexander. So it would appear that, in 1914, Bridget is both Alonzo's paternal and maternal grandmother, which leads me to conclude that, once again, a census has lied and Annie, wife of Patrick J. USHER is actually Bridget Ann (HURD) COSTLY HUBLEY USHER. | HURD, Bridget Ann (I76716)
| Alphonso E. Myra first appears in the 1911 Census, but his DOB is 1899. In the 1901 Census, in his place is a daughter named Effie MYRA who disappears. So it would appear that the Census-taker heard "Alfie" as "Effie". | MYRA, Alphonse Earle (I142971)
| Also living with Isaac and Christina MASON in 1991 is Grandson Harold MASON. However there is no indication as to whose child he is. | Family: Isaac Peter MASON / Christina FLEET (F1072)
| Also living with the family in 1901 is Grand-daughter Beatrice BOYD, b. 26 Oct 1886. | BOYD, Thomas (I46912)
| Also ran a ships' outfitting business and sailed on the crew of the Bluenose. | STEVENS, Randolph Bronson (I1866)
| Also shown in the 1930 Census of Berlin, Worcester, MA in the family of James H. and Amy HEEB is a daughter G. Norma, aged 4 yrs. However, it is more likely that she was a grand-daughter. [Bob H] | HEBB, James Hibbert (I43900)
| Although a marker bearing his name is in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, his obit states that he is to be buried at sea. | NOWE, Walter Ivan (I306954)
| Although a number of records have him as being named Milton, it is clear from other documents and testimony from family members that his name was actually Melton | MANSFIELD, Melton Douglas (I54379)
| Although all sixteen child of Jean LAVENDER are listed as full siblings in the obit for Robert BELL, this is clearly not true. First, one of them (Anna) is surnamed FARMER in her mother's obit; and second son Robert St. Clair BELL is born nine years after John Seldon BELL's death. Since she is named FARMER [as is daughter Anna] in her obit, it would appear that Jean marries Gordon FARMER at some point. But the question of which children belong to which father [and which mother] will seemingly have to wait for the 1931 and 1941 Censuses, | Family: John Seldon BELL / Jean Evangeline LAVENDER (F101394)
| Although Bernice Levy married a man named SULLIVAN in 1954, it turned out that he was already married at the time. He was convicted of bigamy in 1955 and Bernice' marriage was annulled. | Family: (--?--) SULLIVAN / Bernice Estelle LEVY (F87812)
| Although Blanche is listed in every document as the "wife" of Alonzo BOND, there is no record of a civil or religious marriage. | Family: Alonzo Havelock BOND / Maud Blanche VERGE (F65615)
| Although Canon Harris NOTES place John Cyrus HUBLEY 1853 in the family of Jacob and Mary (HAUGHN) HUBLEY, I think that the circumstantial evidence points directly to the family of George Jacob HUBLEY: a. He is know to be a Milford area HUBLEY b. He marries a daughter of Alexander HUBLEY so almost certainly is not a son of Alexander c. That appears to leave only the family of George Jacob in the Milford area d. The obit for Augustus HUBLEY, s/o George Jacob, states that he was one of a family of 12 children, yet only nine have been positively ID'd. So I suspect that John is one of the missing three. So, for the moment at least, since he has to be placed somewhere, I am going to leave John Cyrus (or whoever he is) with George Jacob, Canon Harris' Notes notwithstanding. But I am not entirely comfortable with this (see his marriage notes). [Bob H] | HUBLEY, John Cyrus (I67425)
| Although everything fits, it is not certain that this William Goerge is the William George who m. Margaret Jackson. [Bob H] | BOUTILIER, William George (I65286)
| Although he appears in the 1911 Census, it appears that he died in Feb 1911. The proof is that the informant listed on his death record is son Purvis and that he is a Baptist. | BEZANSON, Amos Lovett (I212670)
| Although he appears in the ZLL register as the child of George Peter, this is almost certainly not the case. He is most likely a grandson. | MOSHER, Edward (I199426)
| Although he appears to be the s/o Richard and Laura Mary (JUDGE) BARRY, he is always seen using the JUDGE surname, and he lists his grandparents as his parents. In the 1901 Census, 3 or 4 months before Clarence is born, Laura is named Laura BARRY but there is no sign of Richard. Laura doesn't seem to appear in the 1911 Census nor does there seem to be any death record for.. So my guess is that Clarence was orphaned at an early age and raised by his grandparents. | JUDGE, Clarence Edward (I54606)
| Although he appears with his parents in the 1881 Census, he does not appear again and is believed to have died in 1881. | EISENHAUER, James Edmund (I140918)
| Although he died in Boston, his last known residence was Sandwich, MA | RODENHISER, Basil (I55315)
| Although he has a marker at Shepherd's Hill Cemetery, his body was not recovered. | RITCEY, James Banford (I164717)
| Although he is always seen as a POOLE, given the timelines associated with his birth and the fact that he does not appear in the POOLE household in the 1911 Census, there would appear to be a distinct possibility that Chalres POOLE was not his biological father. | POOLE, Benjamin Joseph (I252155)
| Although he is bur. Indian Point Cemetery, his death is not recorded in NS Vital Records so he may have died elsewhere. | THOMAS, Clifford Percy (I113035)
| Although he is buried with William and Mary FADER, from their and his age he would seem to be more like an illegitimate grandson than a son. He is carried with them here since the identity of his parents is not obvious and he does not seem to have a [NS] death record. | FADER, Earl George (I123022)
| Although he is consistently a few years younger in subsequent documents, the David M. MOZIER of NS, s/o Peter and Catherine MOZIER, who m. Elizabeth TUSON, appears to be this person. | Family: David Matthias MOSHER / Elizabeth TUSON (F55124)
| Although he is listed as a son in one source,, he appears to be a grandson who was raised by his grandparents. | MANSFIELD, Edward (I218647)
| Although he is listed as Lawrence WAGNER in the 1881 Census, he is born abt. two years beofre David and Sophia's marriage. He may be the child of Sophia and William STEADMAN. [Bob H] | WAGNER, Lawrence (I75055)
| Although he is listed as married when he dies, he appears to have been separated from, or been divorced by, wife Catherine (NAUGLER) LANTZ before 1911 as she is listed as Head of Household in the 1911 Census. When Catherine dies in 1924, she says she is widowed and uses the LANTZ surname. Also, the fact that Ebenezer dies from Cirrhosis of the liver may be part of the explanation. | LOWE, Ebenezer Israel (I204582)
| Although he is listed as their son in the 1901 Census, it seems possible that William and Mary Ann WILKIE are his grandparents, since Mary would have been 52 when he was born. [Bob H] | WILKIE, Ralph Andrew (I71907)
| Although he lis listed as a son in the 1911 Census, he is a step-son on Julia MOSER's death certificate. This seems highly unlikely, but perhaps he was a foster son. | MOSHER, Arthur C. (I170659)
